What Squidoo Lenses Are Exactly And How To Promote Them

I often find people online who are looking for the definition of the words ‘Squidoo lens(es)’. People who are not familiar with Squidoo don’t know what “lenses” are. If you’re one of them, keep reading, and you’ll gain some new knowledge and find out what a Squidoo lens is, and how to promote it.

What Is A Squidoo Lens?

Squidoo uses the term Lens for their pages inside of Squidoo. Lens = Page! That was simple, wasn’t it? The best thing about them is that you can build them for free. You only need to register with Squidoo, which is absolutely free as well.

What Is A Squidoo Lens

Squidoo lenses can be liked, similar to statuses and postings on Facebook. Likes can improve your lensrank on Squidoo. Lensrank is a term used for the rank of a page inside Squidoo. Squidoo has 4 ranks (tier 1, 2, 3, 4). Squidoo shares Ad revenue with you and these ranks show them how successful your lenses are and how much they need to pay you. Tiers are based on a certain number of lenses. For instance, tier 1 consists of the top ranked 2000 lenses:

Tier 1: 1 – 2000
Tier 2: 2001 – 10000
Tier 3: 10001 – 85000
Tier 4: 85000+

Squidoo is a huge authority site which Google loves! With decent work, your lenses will rank pretty high in the search engines if you will do a little homework on your keywords. Use this power of Squidoo!

Creation of Squidoo lenses can be very rewarding and you’ll have lots of fun building them, especially if you’re focused and create around 100 of them. You can earn a decent amount of money. You can also learn how to create great lenses and then sell them through your service. I have received some offers for my lenses, but I didn’t sell any, yet.

Can Squidoo Lenses Be Used For An Online Business?

Of Course! Do it, but don’t have all your eggs in one basket. Squidoo has its own rules and you don’t control everything. Respect the rules and you’ll be fine.

If you find a buyer for one of your lenses, how do you find out the value of your lens? There is a tool in SquidUtils where you can check this. But I say that the price is really how much someone is willing to pay for it. This tool can only help you to see the price based on some factors, but you have the last word! My personal opinion is that they’re worth much more.

Where do lensmasters have the most problems? With Squidoo lens promotion and traffic, how do I do it? I have a Twitter account, but I don’t receive lots of traffic from there, but you can build a Squidoo following rather quickly on Twitter. When you want to promote your lenses you need to have strong a following behind you, and don’t spam. Squids don’t like this! Neither do I. There are also groups on Facebook and you can post your lenses and if someone is interested in your topic, you’ll get some visits and maybe some likes as well.

Submit your lenses to social bookmarking sites such as StumbleUpon, Digg, Delicious, Tumblr and RedGage. Many lensmasters are using them for promoting their lenses. You can simply follow them on these websites and some will follow you back.

Social Bookmarking Sites

Be kind and helpful and other people will help you. Digg and Stumble their posts and maybe some of them will do the favor back and you can receive much more traffic that way.

It’s important that you submit your lenses to lens directories also. Those are sites such as LensLike, Lensroll, Squidoos, Squidom, Squidup, etc.

You can also get easy backlinks on the SquidU forum. Put some of your lenses into the signature and when you leave a comment on the forum, you’ll get backlinks. Comment on other questions, problems, etc. Make sure to leave valuable replies, don’t just spam because you want to get backlinks.

Visit other people’s lenses, like them and leave comments. Most of them will return the favor. The Squidoo community is very kind and you’ll have a hard time finding such a great people in other places. Take “advantage” of it.

What Do You Do If Your New Lens Is Still Not Indexed By The Search Engines?

If your lens still is not indexed by search engines, send it to Google and Bing directories.
