Fellow Squids, this is the moment you’ve been waiting for. Last time I promised, that I’ll post an interview with a very successful Squid and here it is!

Tipi, one of the most successful lensmasters. Her real name is Susie Lehto and she will share with us great information on how she started with Squidoo, how much she earns and much more! In the past week we exchanged some e-mails and the interview was done.

When Did You Start With Squidoo And Why?

June 26 2008 – A stranger on a forum recommended Squidoo to me, after I told him I was new to earning money online, and asked where would be a good place to start. One of those angles in skin.

I was in a serious car accident in 1997 and had to change careers. I was a window cleaning, janitorial, and painting contractor before the accident. The insurance settlement was running out, and I knew that I needed to generate an income from home. After three applications for SSDI, I was denied. Squidoo became my bread and butter, and I live on my Squidoo income.

When Did Your First Bigger Results Come And How Did You Feel?

When I started earning $350 a month, I felt encouraged and set my next goal to earn $500 a month, and so on.

Is There Any Investment You Made For Your Success?

I invested in high-speed internet, got a better (used) computer, and a laptop.

How Do You Promote Your Lenses And Is There Any Special Place You Build Backlinks To Your Lenses?

I use Twitter and FaceBook, ping, once in awhile SquidU Lens Spotlight, and Squidoo’s Discovery Tool, tags, and lenses.

How Much Time Do You Spend On Squidoo Every Day?

It’s a full-time job for me and I do get in some over-time.

What’s The Most Important Thing You Do On Squidoo Every Day?

Encourage and help others.

What Kind Of Lenses Are The Best For Making Money?

I don’t know. I sell a lot of books, and am not getting rich quick.

Which Resources Do You Use For Squidoo?

Amazon, eBay, FaceBook, Twitter, and Squidoo. I’m not a blogger, but I really should do that.

What Is The Best Tip You Can Give To Other Lensmasters?

First: Use the Amazon Voting (plexo) module, it’s the best one we have. Update an Amazon Spotlight with a new product, and then add the other product to a “plexo”. If you have a plexo on your lenses and come across an item you want to add to your lens, you can do it without editing. Then when you can, go back and update that item with your keywords in the title and in the description if you like. There is no other “sales module” where we can change the title of the product to fit our keywords; which is something I have been working on and have a long ways to go.

Second: Set goals for your self to achieve, and once you reach a goal…set another one.

What Is Your Biggest Inspiration?

Being able to earn an income and help out my family when they need it, and earning for favorite charities.

How Do You Work On Squidoo, You Have Some Special Plan Through The Day?

I work at improving lenses a little or a lot at a time, trying to make them useful, informative and tight. Old lenses that are failing will get redone, and with what I have learned that is going pretty well.

I think setting goals is very important for your success. You can’t improve your work if you don’t know why you are doing something. Write down your progress and make a plan for the next day or week. Check it out at the end of the day / week and see if you managed to do things you wrote down. Measuring is the key for success.

I need to get high-speed internet too, I’m still on 3MB. I usually spend a lot of time on Squidoo, but now I’m working on my backlinks, so the lenses will get higher positions in search engines. I track my rankings with Market Samurai.

Tipi, you help other lensmasters a lot! You read their lenses, like them, sometimes bless them and give them long and amazing comments. It’s great that we have someone like you on Squidoo. I think all lensmasters appreciate your work and so do I.

$1,356.00 is a big payday. Congratulations! I hope someday I will get that kind of payday too. About blogging I think you should start, because with blogging you can get your audience and more exposure for your work. Blogs can bring you lots of backlinks for your lenses.

I don’t use a Plexo module a lot. I will try it on my new lenses and I will report if it will work well. Thanks for your suggestion. I’m fascinated on how many lenses you have with such a great lensrank. It’s truly amazing!
